July 2020 begins a new chapter for the Bucks County YMCA. “Operation Compassion” is a new donor-funded program that is providing assistance to the YMCA Bucks County, Pennsylvania members, participants and staff who need support.
In 2015, my wife and I with the support of dear friends created a garden in memory of my sister, Denise. We created a living sculpture that constructively contributes as as it evolves. In collaboration with the “Operation Compassion” program, my sister's garden is supplying optimum nourishment to the "Y" community. The directors, staff and counselors are responsible for the design, guidance and hard work cultivating the soil with the effort of young children planting and harvesting vegetables and fruits when sun ripened. The children design and paint signs to distinguish plant from weed and the various garden activities are an essential part of teaching everyone involved about responsibility, wholesome nutrition and benevolence.
Our annual commitment to the Bucks County “Y” community garden is now serving a cause that will help secure and maintain the promise we made to Denise – design something to share, a place to remember and a means to pay it forward. My sister, Denise Ang who was the face of “Togetherhood” a social responsibility program provides Y members rewarding ways to give back and support their neighbors. Community Gardens could be the common thread to establish and maintain optimum health and well-being.
